Probably the biggest reason is that there is no land to slow down the wind. Also, wind is caused by differences in air pressure, which are caused by uneven heating and cooling. The gas giants have not only the heat from the sun but also their own internal heat. Jupiter is so massive that it generates more heat than it receives from the sun.

There are three reasons. First, the gas planets have no definite surface to generate friction. Second, the gas planets rotate faster than Earth does, creating a stronger Coriolis effect. Third, the gas planets, especially Jupiter and Neptune, generate large amounts of internal heat that is transmitted directly to their atmospheres, causing convection.

Is Earth a gas giant?

Earth is a rocky planet because the gas giants are in the outer planets and earth is in the inner planet.

What must see feature is there in space?

moon, earth, other planets, stars space and my face because im a giant

Was the formation of Earth unique or was it similar to the processes which created all the planets in the solar system?

The formation of the Earth was almost identical to the formation of the other three terrestrial planets (Mercury, Venus, and Mars) until a very unique event happened. An unusually large object estimated to be roughly the size Mars is now struck Earth just after Earth had first formed a solid crust, at just exactly the right place and angle to gouge out a large piece of Earth's mantle, completely remelt both Earth and the object, and fling most of the ejected mantle material into an orbit around Earth where when it cooled the ejected mantle material became Earth's Moon. Had this impact been even slightly different it could have either totally shattered Earth creating another Asteroid Belt or the large object could have simply glanced off leaving Earth nearly as it was. The formation of the four terrestrial planets and the four gas giant planets was very different, influenced largely by the variation in intensity of sunlight in the early solar system.

Are there any mountains on planets other than earth?

There are many examples of mountains on planets and moons, some formed by volcanoes, some by tectonic action and some as impact craters. The largest mountains in the solar system are on Mars.Olympus Mons on Mars is the largest mountain in the solar system at 22 km or 14 miles high. There are three more on Mars higher than Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa (10.2 kilometers or 6.3 miles), the largest on Earth as measured from the base to the top. (Not measured from the top to sea level.)Maxwell Montes on Venus is 6.4 kilometers ( 4 miles) high. Our moon and the moons of other planets also have mountains.Of course, mountains do not exist on the giant gas planets, but the moons of those planets can have mountains. There is a list in the related links.

Does a compass behaves as it does because the moon acts as a giant magnet?

No, the earth is itself a huge magnet.

Why does Jupiter have 16 moons and the earth only has one?

This is clearly related to its greater mass. The other giant planets also have several moons each.

How many rings do the giant planets have?

It depends on the term 'giant'. If 'giant' refers to larger than earth, then all of the giant planets in our solar system have 3 rings in total.

What is earth a terrestrial planet or a gas giant earth?

A terrestrial planet, Gas giant planets are made of gas....

Which planets are not among the gas giant planets?

All of the inner planets are rocky planets: Mars, Earth, Venus, and Mercury

How do the periods of rotation and revolution for gas giant planets differ from those of earth?

It is so much greater because the planets are made out of gas and gas are inside a wind storm or should i say a wind cycle and that is my answer.
