California has earth quakes because it is on plates under neath the earth once the plates move the ground shakes. Its kind of like Haiti. Its right were the tectonic plates move and because of convection currents and other things the earth spreads a part from eachother, like how we were in Pangaea.
The stimulating tectonic plates and its low magnitude. Also the energetic water coming from the ocean.
It is along a fault line in the tectonic plates which results in the plates being slammed together which results in an earthquake.

San Andreas Fault. The two plates are at a transform boundary.

No it is not. In fact these states are the ones that have the most and strongest earthquakes Texas, Nevada, Arizona, Washington, and California. The reason that you hear about California so much is because California it is right by the fault line. So the plates collide mostly on the border of the US, which is California.
California
Japan it gets very strong earthquakes and may cause a tsunami
The most liable place for an earthquake is on a major fault line. Japan suffers strong earthquakes yearly. They suffer about 1500 a year.
gap hypothesis
There is no way of knowing. Earthquakes cannot be predicted.
California has had many earthquakes, but no recorded hurricanes.
California is famous for its earthquakes.

yes
Southern California did not have any significant earthquakes in 1967. There was an earthquake in 1968 and 3 earthquakes in 1969 that did significant damage to southern California.
You can find information about earthquakes that have happened in California on the earthquake page of the USGS website. Alternatively you can find information on the about website under the geography section which has an article about earthquakes in California.
earthquakes mostly happen around plate boundaries!
Yes. Earthquakes are a common occurrence in California, and some of the faults have been known to produce major earthquakes. It is inevitable that more major earthquakes will strike California in the future, but there is no way of knowing when or where they will be centered.
We get them all the time, but feel very few. I can count on one hand the real strong quakes we have had in the last few years.
