What has to happen to cause an object in orbit to fall toward earth?

a object is a thing earth can fall by leaning over.

True or False An artificial satellite in a high orbit will slow down and lose altitude due to the pull of Earth's gravity?

False. Why would it slow down? There is no friction in a high orbit; a satellite can orbit indefinitely. Only in low orbits will satellites slow down and fall from orbit, and the cause is the friction of the extremely tenuous final traces of Earth's atmosphere.

Why doun't satellites fall from the sky?

Interestingly enough the sattelites are doing their level best at falling from the sky. The whole idea is that at orbital velocity the objects move forward fast enough that they continously miss the Earth as they fall down. In the ideal case satellites are in orbit. This means that they circle the Earth at a specific speed and a specific height. Because satellites aren't in Earth's atmosphere nothing slows them down. If they did slow down it would reduce the height they orbit at. If the height were reduced they would encounter thicker air which would slow them down more, which would lower their height more. This cycle would continue until they crashed. In actuality the satellites do slow down very slowly because the air is not totally absent. Eventually all satellites will fall from the sky.

A building that can resist an earthquake will fall down or not?

A building that can resist earthquakes can fall down if you put more pressure on them then they were designed to withstand. For example if there was to be a major subsidence directly under half of the building it is likely that it will fall over.

Can the earth fall down?

its not possible, because gravity keeps it up.

Why don't satellites fall down to earth?

In a sense they are continually falling to Earth, but they are so far away that the curve of their fall is big enough to follow the circumference of the Earth.

If a tree is growing on a mountain cliff and falls will it fall up the mountain or down the mountain and why?

It will fall down, because gravity pulls it towards the core of the earth. If you don't know what the core of the earth is, it is a layer of the earth, which is made of melted metal. Understand?

Would you fall down to the ground if you stepped on earth in space?

If you were close enough to the earth than yes, but you would never reach the ground, you would be burned up in the atmosphere. You would slowly drift closer as the earth is surrounded by gravity and it gets weaker the farther away you get from the earth.

Why don't satellite fall from the sky?

They are put into orbit by shuttles and stay in orbit around the earth, like the moon. Since they are no longer affected by Earth's gravitational field, they will not naturally fall down to Earth.

How is free fall related to acceleration?

during free fall of body the gravity of earth tries to attract the body as it applied equally to whole body ... so body do not experience any gravitational force and there is nothing present in the atmosphere to oppose the fall which results it have maximum acceleration during free fall....
