Maps need a scale because they show you how far apart the distances are that you are reading. If you were reading a map of the United States, without a scale... someone (who probably doesn't know what the United States are) might think that the US is only 55 feet across.
Another example: say you were reading a map of Florida. The map happens to show Orlando, Tallahasse, and Tampa. Say you live in Georgia... and you're taking a trip into Florida. Once you land in Tallahasse, you want to drive from there to Orlando, then to Tampa, where you fly back home. Well, this map doesn't have a scale; that's a problem! You don't know how far Tallahasse is away from Orlando, or from Orlando to Tampa!!!! It's all just there to help you read the map. A map without a compass rose on it... well, you wouldn't know which way was north. Hope this helped!
a road map does not need a scale :) your welcome
The map scale often will show distance in both miles and kilometers. In that way, the map is useful no matter what measure the person normally employs.
A map with 2000 miles per inch would cram more things into the inch than one that uses 1 inch for 1000 miles. So the map with the scale of 1 inch for 1000 miles would show more detail.
(63360 x 5in) / 10in on map = 31,680 ==> the fraction scale is 1:31,680
You would look at the scale of the map. The scale indicates the comparison between the distances on the map - to distances in the real world. For example... if the map scale shows 1:10,000 - That means every unit on the map is equal to 10,000 units in real life.
The smaller scale map is the 1 inch to 200 miles scale.
The map needs a scale so that distances on the map can be worked out.
The answer depends on the scale of the map.The answer depends on the scale of the map.The answer depends on the scale of the map.The answer depends on the scale of the map.
On a map of the U.S., the distance of 1,400 miles will depend on the scale of the map being used. For instance, if the map has a scale of 1 inch representing 100 miles, then 1,400 miles would be represented as 14 inches. Similarly, if the scale is different, the measured distance on the map will vary accordingly. Always refer to the map's scale to determine the accurate representation of real distances.
one of the things a map scale will show is the distance in miles
a map's scale shows the population of minecraft
That depends entirely on what the scale of the map is.
That depends on the scale factor of the map.
The smaller scale map is the 1 inch to 200 miles. The smaller the ratio (1:100, 1:200 etc) the larger the scale, and the more detail is in the map.
A scale bar helps you find the distance between 2 places on a map. Most scale bars show the distance in km or miles. Or go 200 miles one place or another......or 500 miles on a map

The 1 inch to 200 miles is the smaller scale.
