Answer

The truth is, the other planets DO have atmospheres.

Planets other than Earth have gases surrounding the planet just like we do here. However, the types and/or quantities of gases in the atmospheres of other planets are simply not capable of supporting life like Earth is for one reason or another.

Venus, for example, has an atmosphere extremely rich in greenhouse gases such as Carbon Dioxide. Because of this, Venus is a VERY hot planet from all the solar radiation that is constantly beaming onto the planet with no way to escape.

Venus is not hot though find out more on wikipedia

How is there oxygen on earth but not on other planets?

This is because there is absolutely no trees on other planets.Mean while the trees are the propagators of oxygen on earth.hence the absence of oxygen on other planets.

Why is planet earth the only planet with air?

It depends on how you define air. Other planets in the solar system have atmospheres, but they have different compositions from Earth's atmosphere, which may or may not be called air. The gas planets have atmospheres made mostly of hydrogen and helium while Venus and Mars have atmospheres made mostly of carbon dioxide. The air we are familiar with is mostly nitrogen and oxygen. When Earth was young it likely had a carbon dioxide atmosphere as well, but through photosynthesis algae took carbon dioxide out of the atmosphere are replaced it with oxygen. More carbon dioxide was removed in bodies of water and deposited as carbonate rocks. The nitrogen, already present in the atmosphere, remained.

What makes earth a planet while pluto is not?

Pluto was re-classified as a dwarf planet in 2006 by the International Astronomical Union (IAU). A new definition for a planet was established, Pluto did not fit the new criteria, so was deemed a dwarf planet. Like Earth and the other planets, it is known to be spherical in shape and is in direct orbit the, but unlike the Earth and other planets, it does not `dominate` its orbit. That is to say that there are a high number of other bodies at the same orbital distance.

Why does the earth have fewer visible craters than the moon?

Because Earth has an atmosphere which protects it from most of the space dust and meteors. Most of them burn up in the atmosphere on entry, only the very large ones make impact. While on the moon, since it has no atmosphere anything crashes in and leaves a crater. An other reason is that there is no erosion by wind or water on the Moon, which causes the crater to stay visible for ever, while on Earth it fades away in time.

Why are the four spheres of earth called open systems?

The four spheres of Earth—atmosphere, hydrosphere, lithosphere, and biosphere—are called open systems because they exchange matter and energy with each other and with their surroundings. For instance, water vapor from the hydrosphere can enter the atmosphere, while gases from the atmosphere can dissolve in water bodies. This continuous interaction allows for processes like weathering, erosion, and biological activity, underscoring the interconnectedness of these spheres. Such exchanges are essential for maintaining the balance and dynamics of Earth's environment.

How many planets are in the atmosphere?

An atmosphere is a layer of gas that is part of a planet, and usually surrounds it solid part, if there is a solid part. so for each planet, there is one and only one plant in its atmosphere. The earth is the only planet in the Earth's atmosphere; Mars is the only plant in the Martian atmosphere; etc.,

Why does Earth have a lower amount of carbon in the atmosphere compared to planets like Venus and Mars?

Earth has a lower amount of carbon in the atmosphere compared to planets like Venus and Mars because Earth's carbon is mostly stored in rocks and oceans, while on Venus and Mars, carbon is released into the atmosphere through volcanic activity and other processes.

Which rocky planets have well developed atmospheres?

Earth, Venus, and Mars have well-developed atmospheres compared to the other rocky planets in our solar system. Earth has a thick atmosphere that supports life, Venus has a thick and toxic atmosphere, while Mars has a thin atmosphere primarily composed of carbon dioxide.

Do any other planets have an atmosphere like earths and if they did could it support life?

At the moment, no planets are known to have conditions similar to Earth's for supporting life. If there planets similar to Earth, there would definitely be living organisms of some sort. On the other hand, there is slightly less chance of sentinent life such as our own species existing.

Which planets are called earth twins?

Venus and Mars are often called Earth's twins because they are rocky planets like Earth, but they have different environments. Venus has a thick toxic atmosphere, while Mars has a thin atmosphere with extreme temperatures.

Which 2 inner planets have thick atmospheres?

Venus and Earth are the two inner planets with thick atmospheres. Venus has a thick atmosphere composed mainly of carbon dioxide, while Earth has a diverse atmosphere containing nitrogen, oxygen, and other trace gases.

Why does Earth only have oxygen?

It doesn't; Earth has many other gasses. Our atmosphere is mostly nitrogen; only about 21% is oxygen. It may be that you intended to ask, why does only Earth have free oxygen in its atmosphere, while other planets in the solar system don't. Free oxygen is produced by green plants (by a process called photosynthesis) and green plants grow only on Earth.

What are the major difference between Earth and the other planets in our solar system is that?

One major difference between Earth and other planets in our solar system is its ability to support life, primarily due to its liquid water, suitable atmosphere, and moderate temperatures. Earth has a diverse ecosystem and complex biosphere, while most other planets are inhospitable, lacking the essential conditions for life as we know it. Additionally, Earth's geological activity, such as plate tectonics, plays a crucial role in sustaining its environment, unlike the more static surfaces of many other planets.

What three planets of your solar system show signs of oxygen in their atmosphere?

Earth, Mars, and Venus are the three planets in our solar system that show signs of oxygen in their atmosphere, although the levels and presence of oxygen vary significantly among them. Earth has a rich oxygen atmosphere, while Mars and Venus have much lower levels of oxygen.

Is the earth's atmosphere unique compared with other planet's.why or why not?

Yes, earth's atmosphere is unique among the planet in our solar system. Our atmosphere is largely nitrogen and oxygen. It varies in composition on \Venus and the gas giants, but at first glance, the most typical atmospheric gas in our solar system would seem to be methane. Earth is very different in that regard.

Which gas is present in the atmosphere of Venus Earth and Mars but not present in the atmosphere of Jupiter?

The gas that is present in the atmospheres of Venus, Earth, and Mars but not in the atmosphere of Jupiter is water vapor (H₂O). While all these planets have varying amounts of water vapor, Jupiter's atmosphere, dominated by hydrogen and helium, contains very little water vapor compared to the other three planets. This difference is significant given the role of water vapor in climate and weather patterns.
