Bede was so important due to his religious, scientific and historic writings. Without whom we would be oblivious to the history before the 7th century. As well as being a monk, he was a teacher and a scholar. His efforts to gather information from the 300-400 books in the Jarrow/Wearmouth monestry, and make sense of evidence reveals to us in latin the life of previous times. Now translated into old English the 'Ecclesiatical History of the Englsih People' is one of the key references of the time.

Why is he often referred to as the Venerable Bede
Saint Bede lived many years after the Bible was written so his name does not appear there.
St. Bede, also known as the Venerable Bede, was an influential scholar and historian in the early Middle Ages. He is often referred to as the "Father of English History" for his writings on the early history of England. His works, particularly the "Ecclesiastical History of the English People," have provided valuable insights into the culture, religion, and politics of the time. St. Bede's contributions helped preserve knowledge and shape historical narratives for generations to come.
