The fact of the mater is that they don't know the answer to this question. It is known that often high rheumatoid factor accompanies RA however this is not necessarily the case and often people with low or no RF have RA. The specialists and drug companys are still groping in the dark and have so far only stumbled on ways to reduce the damage.
