I would hesitate to hang the label "true" on that statement, but it isn't completely false either. The Earth does have a magnetic field.

Does a compass behaves as it does because the moon acts as a giant magnet?

No, the earth is itself a huge magnet.

What evidence did Lyell use to date the earth?

that the earth was round and big and it contained a force called the almighty gravity. How amazing LOL :)

Why magnet stand north and south?

Because of lots of iron at top of earth, metal dial of compass is attracted to it.

How should we write big write on every day is earth day?

big write on every day is earth day

How does the Earths magnetism help us find your way?

As such till now there is no proper or valid theory to prove or explain the cause of earth's magnetic field. A bar magnet or a magnetic compass alligns itself in the direction of earth's magnetic field. This process happens as south pole of magnet alligns itself to north pole of earth n vice versa true north pole is southpole of magnet. Exact location of places can be done by calculating the magnetic flux density n various other factor . . . . . .

Algeria haha

How close does a magnet have to be to metal to have an effect on it?

It depends on the gauss value of the magnet. Yourstood on a big magnet. It'scalled Earth. Youre a long way from the poles but it still has an effect on metals.

Do magnet can attract earth?

May be it may. But it need to be really big enough to attract there magnetic poles. But the gravitation of earth attracts the magnet towards its centre or to say towars the ground.

Why is earth is called super magnat?

The earth is called a super magnet because of the force of gravity that attract everything to its surface.

Why is the world an really big magnet?

i think the world is a big magnet because of its magnetic force field or the gravity in the earth i really do not know i am just gussed sorry i do not know a really good answer

If there was a magnet beside a compass would the compass point to the north or south?

because inside of the earth acts like a big magnet and the magnet points to the north

Is the sun a magnet to earth?

Not a magnet, no. But it does attract the Earth and this is due to gravity.

What are 2 poles of magnet?

magnet has two poles..one is north pole n the other is south pole. the earth also has a magnet within it which has a dierction opposite to the direction of the geographical poles.i.e. the geographical north of earth is its magnetic south and vice versa. If a bar magnet is suspended freely , its one end is attracted to the magnetic north which is geographical south of earth n therefore that end of the magnet is called south pole.and the other end is called north pole.

What is the end of a magnet called?

A pole. They are called the north pole and south pole. The north pole of a magnet is defined as the pole that, when the magnet is freely suspended, points towards the Earth's North Magnetic Pole in the Arctic.
