I have driven Sables for years and have found if you are moving at a slow speed, maybe decelerating, and begin to accelerate, sometimes the transmission downshifts with a very noticeable jerk and a thud sound. I put 200k miles on a '96 Sable with this happening and never had a problem requiring attention.
most likely it is your fuel pump the same thing happened to my 1999 mercuy sable
2000 Mercury Sable headlight bulb replacement: Purchase the correct replacement bulb(s) first, before disassembling the vehicle. See sources and related links below for replacement bulb information. Then consult your owner's manual for the replacement procedure. As simple as it sounds, the owner's manual is the best place to start for bulb replacement instructions. You may want to consider replacing both left and right at the same time in order to keep brightness and color equal (optional).
It is a lifter either sticking or your fuel injectors it is common with these engines... I have a 2001 that ticks at idle and it is a lifter but as soon as I start to accelerate it goes away. It has done this since a year ago when I bought it I wouldn't worry unless it is knocking.
If a 2001 Cadillac DHS sometimes won\'t start, becomes idle or just dies it\'s probably a problem with the gear box.
start with checking the battery, next check the solenoid, next check the starter motor.then check ignition switch
There are several reasons why a Mercury Sable may not start. Some of the reasons are no gas, a bad battery, or a bad starter.
your battery was dead.
A key is needed to enter, lock, and unlock many Mercury Sable cars. A key is also needed to start the engine.
The most common cause for a 1996 Mercury Sable not starting is a dead battery. The second most common cause for the automobile not to start is a lack of fuel.
no it will not
because it doesn't like you. >:o are you sure
I am sorry to here that, you will need to get it towed to a garage to have it mended.
to reset the alarm system for a Mercury Sable when the alarm is causing the car not to start, place the key in the ignition. Turn the key only about halfway and leave it in this spot for 10 minutes before trying to start the car.
Needs a new battery.
Start with the headlamp switch.
Have you checked your pcm relay? (also known as the integrated control unit). I had this to happen to my 94 mercury sable and the problem was with the above mentioned. Hope this helps rclawson North Carolina
