Unfortuntely, No you can not use the AE1 Program lenses with Canon EOS cameras. They use different types of lenses, thus the diameter, connections and mount are different.

Point-and-shoot digital cameras come with a fixed lens, that often has both an optical zoom and a digital zoom. The fujifilm FinePix S3200 has a 24x optical zoom and 6.2x digital zoom. DSLR cameras such as Canon cameras with an EF mount, like the EOS and Rebel series cameras, can have different lenses attached. These lenses can have focal lengths of 600mm and beyond.
Error 99 on the Canon EOS Rebel XS typically indicates a generic malfunction, often related to the camera's lens or internal circuitry. To fix it, try removing and reinserting the lens, ensuring it's properly attached. Additionally, check the lens for dirt or obstructions, and if possible, test with a different lens to see if the error persists. If the problem continues, resetting the camera settings or performing a firmware update may help, but if that doesn't resolve the issue, professional servicing could be necessary.
Buying a camera is what I believe is an investment that will bring you many years of service doing what you want it to do. The purpose of buying this camera is important. What are you using this camera for? Do you need something compact? Do you want 35mm or digital? Do you want a point and shoot or SLR? These things and more need to be put into consideration while making your purchase. You can't go wrong with Canon or Nikon. I personally am a Canon person. If you are looking for a SLR, both brands offer a wide variety of lenses and aftermarket products by them and other companies. Depending on your budget you will have to decide what you think is value or quality. I've seen nice semi pro SLR camera's out there like the Canon rebel T2i or Nikon D3100. And yes they can be considered professional cameras too. This is if you're starting out and wanting to use photography as a hobby, profession or if you just like having the option of having a nicer model camera. If you are looking for something less bulky the Canon powershot or Nikon coolpix offer a wide variety of compact point and shoot digital cameras that are really affordable. This is more of a less professional way to go but if you are looking for something simple this is a good route. This is what I can think of right now as far as advice for purchasing a camera.

All Canon Rebels can use either Canon EF (or compatible) or Canon EF-S lenses. EF lenses can be used on any Canon EOS camera. EF-S lenses, introduced in 2003, are made specifically for Canon EOS cameras with APS-C size (22.2 x 14.8mm) sensor. They can be used only on Canon Rebel cameras and on the Canon 20D, 30D, 40D, and 50D cameras (as of 2008). No other manufactuer currently makes camera bodies that take EF lenses. (Several years ago, Kodak had a full-frame digital camera that took EF lenses. It was a camera that was OK in the studio, but inferior for general photographic use. It was discontinued shortly after introduction.)
The duration of Rebel with a Camera is 3000.0 seconds.
