According to the Arthritis Foundation there is no relief of pain or inflammation when Gelatin is consumed; its effect is the same as a placebo. Collagen hydrolysate did appear to aid in the absorption of cartilage when combined with calcitonin.

gelatin is recommended for strengthening hair and fingernails however, there is no scientific evidence to support either claim. the protein in gelatin has nothing to do with the type of protein required for the healthy growth of hair and nails.
