You risk scratching through the glaze on the tile. That will certainly damage it. Use a nonabrasive cleaner. I use things like 409 and they work great.
Halley's Comet actually comes around every year. Humans enjoy loooking at the beautiful light show. The reason why Halley's Comet is so famous is that light show was the first comet seen that was reecorded.
Ceramic tile is pretty tough. You can use most anything. Be careful of abrasive cleaners like Comet, etc. The best thing is to start mild and work your way up. Yes,you can use a garden hose on it. Try plain water 1st. Add detergent if more cleaning is desired. Just watch any bleaches you put on if the grout color matters. Always try to start in the most inconspicuous spot 1st.

Ceramic floor tiles can be cleaned with any cleaning products- with the exception of comet or any type of gritty abrasive cleaner- (do not use-comet or any abrasive cleaners on ceramic tile- the tile will scratch- You can use all other types of cleaning supplies on ceramic- liquid soaps- pine sol-degreasers etc- Muriatic acid or any other corrosives are a little strong too- But Tile is very Durable and can be cleaned with most any thing except abrasives and corrosives-

If you are trying to remove soap scum, use Comet bathroom spray. Let it sit for a few minutes and scrub with a Scotchbrite pad, then rinse. Comet bathroom spray has citric acid, which will break down the soap scum. It does work.
