This is a new one on me. From all indications, Amelia, like many girls, loved animals. She had pets and was familiar with horseback riding ( this does not make her a cowgirl) I have read a number of books on Amelia, and nobody mentions any affinity for the hunting sports. It is true that a famous ( and weapons-oriented) Male pilot- the Baron Von Richtofen was a seasoned hunter long before he entered the Army, of which the Luftwaffe was a part. Richtofen was mainly a hunter in the war zone- not so much an airman for the sake of flying but a grim people hunter. He scored 80 confirmed kills in World War I before he was gunned down. Maybe there is the confusion. Let us not get Amelia mixed up with gunners. I have never heard this story- but it is true Manfred Von Richtofen was a hunter, and an avid one.
