Every designer has their own method, but usually, you'll want to start roughing out some design concepts. Depending on what you charged your customer, I usually include between 3 and 5 concepts based on the creative brief. Bear in mind that these are NOT finished products, and should be treated as rough drafts. If the customer likes a concept and wants to revise it, great, but if they don't, tell them you'll need more detail in the brief.

How do you get a web design client to pay?

I'm assuming you mean that you are the one who is designing a site for a client and you are wondering how you should bill them for your services. I like to use paypal it's one of the quickest and safest ways, however there are other way to exchange money over the internet. What I like to do is get the client to pay me half of what they owe before I start designing anything for them. This way i know I'm not going to be cheated, and they know that you are not running away with their money. Then what I do is create the web design and when I'm done I take screen shots of everything and send the screen shots to the client. I don't send the actual design to the client because they could potentially run away with your design and not pay you. If the client likes what they see I send them half of the actual web design, like part of the coding or images. And then I request that the balance amount be paid before I send the rest of the design. This method is usually the safest and ensures that you nor the other party won't get robbed.
