try squirting some sarter fluid in air filter .if this starts engine and then dies, try it again. if engine will run as long as you squirt starter fluid ,the stop when starter fluid runs out, pretty much means you are not getting fuel. so you then need to check fuel filter, fuel pump injectors and injector pump until you find the problem
If yo have power to both wires at the starter when trying to crank, the starter is failed.
Your battery is not charging. It is either due to a faulty battery or a faulty alternator. Get it changed.
Could be heater plugs if its a diesel or maybe the battery. Check the earth (ground) cables between the engine and body for cleanliness and security of connection. Turn the ignition key, you should hear the starter solenoid 'click'. If it does, the cable from the battery to the starter is a fused link, connect a starter cable between the battery and starter motor solenoid and try to start. If there is no 'click' the fault is either the ignition switch or the wiring from the solenoid to it. If the car is automatic it should only start in Park (P) and Neutral (N). check the operation of the gearbox start inhibit switch. If an aftermarket alarm is fitted check the security and cleanliness of the wiring connections, especially the immobilizer circuit.
Yes, you can start diesel engine even if you don't have battery in!
Installing an alternator on a dead or poor battery will cause them to fail prematurely. trickle charge your battery before installing a new alternator. check all connections for corrosion especially grounds.
Remove battery connections. remove large wire at starter (13mm nut), remove small wire on starter (10mm nut), remove 3 13mm bolts from the starter to the engine (some had a bracket, depends on model) starter should drop out bottom. refitt in reverse. .
A vehicle may not run if the battery cables are disconnected with or without a bad alternator. The best way to test an alternator is by voltage output when applying a load.
It doesn't, unless it has a faulty alternator/battery or isn't driven.
Just had a bill for a 2005 Touran 1.9 Diesel £190 for an alternator, £97 for a battery, 2 hours labour @ £99 per hour.....
Check the voltage regulator.

No it cannot unless alternator is not charging the only power a diesel requires is for fuel cutoff solenoid
My Mk3 fiesta did not.
Starter Relay Isuzu Trooper (Diesel Engine) located in fuse box (engine room), grey color. They have 4 relay (Power Windows-black, AC-black, Engine/Alternator-blue, and Starter-diesel engine-grey)
Does my 1995 ford fiesta 1.8 diesel have a timing belt or chain

Dead Battery. Are you sure your battery can maintain or hold a charge?
