To become a professor i believe you need a masters in art science. I'm not positive though. So I would say 6 years possibly 4 if you only get your bachelors degree. you will need a B.A. or B.F.A. with an area of specialization. (that's 4 to 5 years, depending on you, really). then you will need to get an MFA - that can take 2 to 4 years and will include two exhibitions and two written theses(sp?). if you want to be an art history professor, you will also need to get a phd (2-4 years, or whenever you get that thesis written and approved).
