Manuscripts are the books written long ago. These were written by hand on palm leaf or on specially prepared bark of tree known as birch.

They are preserved in temples and monastries and deal with all kinds of subjects- religious beliefs and practices.Besides there are epics, poems and plays. Many of these are written in sanskrit, prakrit and tamil.

Inscriptions are writings on relatively hard surfaces such as stone or metal. There are other kinds of inscriptions as well where men and women recorded what they did.

What do you understand by discontinuity in historical sources?

Historians use coins, inscriptions, and manuscripts for reconstructing the history of ancient period. Very few original manuscripts are available and manuscripts which are available are the reproduction of scribes and some times information provided in these sources are not reliable. As scribe fails to understand the information given in the Historical text which led to the misinterpretation of facts. And moreover there is a lack of continuity as text do not follow time line.In Medieval period use of paper to issue Royal orders began instead of inscriptions. As paper has less durability than inscription caused the discontinuity in the availability of historical source.

What is the difference between nlt and kjv?

Even though the names are similar the NKJ and KJV (or AV) were translated from very different manuscripts. However they are both very accurate translations with the KJV being the most accurate representation of the original manuscripts and the NKJ is a lot easier to read as it has much more simplified english.
