The fact that one is made with bobbins and the other with needle also makes them look differently. Probably not to a novice, but most advanced lace makers can distinguish them. Also it takes considerably more time to make the same amount of needle lace and that is a reason why bobbin lace was invented.

What is the difference between a needle and a pin?

A needle has an "eye" at the other (non-sharp) end, to allow you to pull a thread. A pin doesn't.

Why are there two threads on a sewing machine?

The lockstitch is the stitch most sewing machines perform, which takes two threads. One thread passes through a needle (above the fabric), and the other comes from the bobbin (below the fabric). Each thread stays on the same side of the material being sewn. The sewing machine interlaces the two threads at each needle hole, by means of a bobbin driver.

Difference between electric cautery and ligature?

Electrocautery is a technique wherein an electrically heated needle or other instrument is used in cauterization. Ligature, on the other hand, is a filament such as thread that is used for binding in surgery.

What is the difference between an Australian compass and British compass?

The needle of a compass must be free to rotate so that it can point to magnetic north. The magnetic field of the earth not only rotates the compass needle horizontally but also pulls one end down. If it pulls the needle down it can stop it from turning freely so on many compasses the needle is balanced for use in a specific zone. There are 5 zones. Austraila and Britain are in different zones. This means the needle may not be level if used in the other's zone. Needles are balanced by making one end of the needle longer or by adding weight to one end of the needle.

How do you tell if Kenmore Sewing Machine 1525 is a oscillating hook?

Remove the bobbin cover plate or open the door( I don't know if its a top loading drop in bobbin or a side or front loading with a removable bobbin case and watch the hook when you turn the handwheel. If it moves about half way in the circle and then stops and goes back the other way, its an oscillating hook. If it makes a complete rotation, it's a rotary hook. You may need to remove the bobbin(if it's a drop in bobbin) or removable bobbin case if it's loads from the front or side) to see this clearly.

Why needle with grease float on water surface?

The needle with grease floats on water because the grease creates a waterproof barrier around the needle. When placed on water, the surface tension of the water is able to support the needle and grease due to the decreased contact between the needle and water. This phenomenon is known as the "floating needle trick."

When you read measurements on an analog multimeter you must look straight at the meter scales in order to prevent what?

Parallax error. Because there is a gap between the needle and scale, looking from either one side or the other of needle will make a difference in the observed reading. In high-end meters there was a general practice of putting a mirror behind a slot in the meter face. If the observer could not see the reflection of the needle in the mirror then the reflection was being obscured by the needle and the observer was perpendicular to, and therefore looking directly at, the scale.

An unmagnetized needle will not attract another unmagnetized needle but if one end of the needle is in contact with a magnet the other end will attract the other needle explain?

When one end of the unmagnetized needle is in contact with a magnet, the magnetic field from the magnet induces magnetism in the needle. This results in the end of the needle touching the magnet becoming a magnetic pole, and the other end becoming an opposite pole. The opposite poles attract each other, causing the unmagnetized needle to attract another needle when in contact with a magnet.
