it's called the Spinning Jenny and no, the Cotton Gin just took the seeds out while the Spinning Jenny actually spun thread. The spinning Jenny spun 8 threads at a time which sped up cloth making a good bit, the technology before the spinning Jenny only did 1 thread at a time, but it still saved them time

The Spinning Jenny is a machine invented by James Hargreaves (probably in 1764) which was used to spin cotton fibre into thread on multiple spindles thus increasing production.
The cotton gin- a machine for removing seeds from raw cotton quickly and cheaply- and the spinning jenny- a machine that would spin cotton fiber into thread. Together with the power loom (used to weave cloth from thread) it greatly increased cheap production of cotton cloth- and increased the demand for cotton.
The cotton mill used water power in order to spin cotton into useful thread. This allowed for greater thread production, which led to more and cheaper clothes for all.
The spinny jenny was used to spin cotton yarn when it was invented in the late 1700's in England. The "flying shuttle" had recently been invented and put into use in the weaving industry, dramatically improving weaver's productivity. As a result, the demand for yarn (thread) increased dramatically. The spinning jenny allowed a single operator to create 8 spindles of thread at a time, instead of just one.

Nylon is a man made fiber- it comes from a chemical factory, and the liquids are changed to solid threads. Cotton is a plant- it grows, you pick it, and spin the fibers into thread. Wool is the fur of a sheep or similar animal- you cut it off the animal, spin it into thread.
It is called the 'Spinning Jenny' because in the 1700s James Hargreaves had a daughter called Jenny and she knocked over the family spinning wheel and it gave Hargreaves the idea to make his invention. And since Jenny had knocked over the family wheel and gave him this idea, he named it after her. Although the above is a lovely story, it is not true. Hargreaves never had a Daughter or Wife for that matter called Jenny. The name derives from the "Northern" word, or abbreviation meaning Engine. Much the same as "Gin" in "Cotton Gin" or cotton engine.
The original Spinning jenny could spin eight spindles of yarn at a time, but as technology improved the most advanced Spinning jenny could spin one hundred twenty spindles at a time!
The invention that sped up the process of spinning yarn and thread is the spinning jenny, which was developed by James Hargreaves in 1764. This machine allowed one operator to spin multiple spindles of yarn simultaneously, greatly increasing productivity in the textile industry.
