The woolly mammoth (Elephantidae Mammuthus primigenius) average size was 108-168 inches tall, 138 inches long, and weighed in between 12,000-20,000 pounds. This is an estimate only that we can garner from fossilized records. Their tusks alone were massive, the largest tusk ever found to date was almost 16 feet long and weighed over 205 lbs.

A good way to get an understanding of their size is in comparison to the African bush elephant (Loxodonta africana), currently the largest terrestrial mammal. African bush elephant bulls normally weigh up to 15,000 lbs (though the largest ever recorded was shot in 1955 and weighed over 27,000 lbs).

The African elephant, which is much bigger then the Asian, is about the same size like the Mammoth used to be. However, the Mammoth was very hairy and looked very imposing with its much longer ivorys.

Due to lack of food, in some locations, Mammoth actually developed into dwarfs the size of a big horse.
