Samuel Slater, an English-American industrialist, was born in 1758 and died in 1835. He is known as the father of the American factory system.
This came straight out of my American History book. In 1789 Samuel Slater came to America from England. In Rhode Island Slater built factories that had spinning machines. Before long there were many textile mills in the North. This came off of Google. Samuel Slater was an English American.

Samuel Slater was born to Mary Slater (née McCrum) in 1768 in Belper, Derbyshire, England. Mary played a significant role in his early life, supporting his education and future endeavors. Samuel Slater is often credited with bringing the Industrial Revolution to America through his knowledge of textile manufacturing.
