Yes you can undo the false alarm after you start the ignition.
A flea market or a pawn shop is a good place to start. I have bought fully loaded tool boxes for less that 50 dollars. You can buy broken craftsman tools and take them back to sears for a free replacement.
You don't. The ignition is required to start the car. If it fails you need a new ignition switch.
Put it in park , insert the ignition key into the ignition and turn the key to start it.
Chances are the coil spring has a broken "locking tang" on the end. They are notorius for breaking when you pull the cord to start the mower. You can go to Sears and purchase the OEM replacememt fairly inexpensivly. The new spring is stronger and contains the instructions on how to install it.
I usually take the key out, turn it, and put it back in ignition to start
