front brakes are disk they are not adjustable. there should never be a need! if you are having problems I would say you have a stuck caliper. Dis-assemble see if the piston will move freely (and push t back in) lube all slider (contact points) and reassemble.
If there is still spongyness after a couple pumps (remember we need a couple to push the piston back out) I would say you have some trapped air in the system and would then need to bleed the brakes. (do all 4 starting at rear passenger side)
you dont adjust you replace brake shoes
Release parking brake. Place transmission in Reverse. Apply brakes very firmly at about 5 mph. Repeat 10 times. That will automatically adjust the parking brake shoes.
on my 91 when i put new shoes on i adjusted the shoes out with adjuster until shoes touched drums and that also took care of my parking brake problem --- you may need rear brakes ???
To adjust the parking brake on a 2008 Volvo S80, first, ensure the vehicle is on a level surface and the ignition is off. Locate the parking brake lever and pull it up several times to ensure it is fully engaged. Then, access the rear brake assembly to adjust the brake shoes or use the adjustment mechanism if equipped. Finally, test the parking brake by engaging it and ensuring it holds the vehicle securely in place.
adjust the shoes
Start with an inspection and adjustment of the parking brake shoes by removing the rear brake rotors. If the brake shoes are good and they are adjusted up and you still need more adjustment, make final adjustments on the brake cables under the drivers side of the vehicle.
take off rear brake calpers and theres a set of brake shoes inside adj and reinstall
You don't. You replace the worn out rear break shoes. If that doesn't do it you need to replace the stretched E brake cable.
check the parking brake cables, any applied tension, and condition of the brake shoes
I am not a car professional but I think that installing brake shoes simply means installing brake pads. And brake pads are what helps you slow down and stop while driving.
# To gain access to the parking brake adjuster raise the rear and support the truck # Remove the rubber plug from the brake backing plate and using a screwdriver or brake adjusting tool turn the adjusting screw star wheel until the parking brake shoe start to drag as the disc is turned then back off the star wheel until the shoes dont drag
If it's rear drum brake you should be able to adjust the rear brake shoes properly and solve your problems Pull back the hand brake until you see a hole with a 10mm nut. You will need a 10mm deep well sockets to adjust brakes. Turn the nut clockwise to increase brake.
