How do you change transmission fluid on 2002 FatBoy?

Just changed the oil in my 2003 Fatboy for the first time. Here's what I discovered and accomplished: The drain plug is on the bottom right side just below the passenger footrest and suspension crossbar. use a 5/8" socket for the drain plug. The oil filler dipstick is protruding just below the front part of the seat on the same right hand side of the drain plug. Mine is a chrome cap about 2" in diameter. It is extremely helpful if you purchase the HD oil filter wrench available from most dealerships - it works really well with a sockett wrench for the oil filter. I also used Screamin Eagle 20W50 synthetic oil and by keeping a quart on hand you can use it for all three fluids on your bike according to the dealership which is convenient. The bike has a quantity of 3 quarts, however, it will not take three quarts as it's virtually impossible to remove all of the oil, so don't overfill. Put in 2.5 quarts, srartup bike for 30 seconds or so and the check the oil level on the dipstick. It will be about halfway on the markings cold and closer to the full mark when warmed up. What you need: oil filter three quartz of 20W50 screamin eagle synthetic oil new "O" ring for drain plug H.D. tool for oil filter is helpful ($20.00) Steps: Warm the oil up, go for a quick ride. Shut the bike down and remove the drain plug followed by the oil filler/dipstick cap. Ensure you have a drain pan lined up underneath. I got on the bike and held it upright until it stopped draining. With a drip pan under the location of the filter, remove it - as stated earlier for around $20.00 the H.D. tool for this works great. Located/accessed from the lower front of engine on the right side. Install new filter. Reinstall the drain plug with a new .60 cent "O" ring on the plug from your dealer. The .60 cents is good insurance against a leak. I coat the new "O" ring and the filter gasket with with a thin coat of new oil from my finger. Add the oil into the filler neck that dipstick/cap came from. This is a convenient and easy place to add oil and a funnel isn't really required. Remember not to overfill. About 2.5 quarts, start the bike and then check the dipstick again. Remember to have the bike upright and insert the cap all the way before checking again. Of course, wipe the dipstick prior to each check. Unless the oil is coletely warm, the level should not go to the top fill line. Make sure the bike is in the upright position. Then remove the transmission dip stick if you have a manual lift that's even better to raise the bike. While the trans fluid is warm locate the drain bolt from the bottom of trans looking up you'll find it located between your two shocks I believe it's a 5/8 socket. After draining the fluid insert drain bolt with new rubber o-ring and torque to 14-21 ft lbs. Now Add 20-24 oz of 20w-50 in dip stick hole when inserting the dip stick make sure the stick goes in to the right of the clutch cable when sitting on the bike. If you look into the filler hole you'll see the clutch cable I'm talking about.

The oil drain plug is located at the bottom of the oil case.. Remove that and then remove the fill plug located on the upper right. Once the oil is completely drained, replace the drain plug. Refill with 20 to 24 ounces of oil and replace the fill plug.
