The fuel pressure gauge will help you check the fuel pressure in a 1997 Sunfire. When the pressure is low their is a repair manual which advises on what steps to take.
you need a fuel pressure tester to do it but i would check your o-rings on your fuel injectors first they could be old and starting to crack thus the smell of gas. but first check all fuel connection mak sure they are all tight. hope this helps zorro
Check at the line out of your fuel filter
Check the pressure regulator, fuel filter and fuel pump.
Check for proper fuel pressure in the 1997 Talon. The engine appears to be starving for fuel and only has enough pressure to start.
If you pick up a Haynes or Chilton manual, you'll find all of the fuel system test procedures and requirements. FriPilot

To test fuel pressure on a 1999 Pontiac Sunfire, you'll need a fuel pressure gauge. First, locate the fuel rail on the engine and find the Schrader valve, which is similar to a tire valve. Attach the gauge to the Schrader valve, then turn the ignition key to the "On" position without starting the engine to check the pressure reading. It should typically be around 41-47 psi; if it's outside this range, there may be issues with the fuel pump or fuel filter.

connect a fuel pressure gauge to the port at the back. turn key on and check for pressure, watch for pressure drop if it drops immediately regulator is leaking.on4.3 reulator is under upper intake plenum
1. you should be able to hear it running 2. there is a schrader valve on the fuel rail, connect a fuel pressure meter to it and check your fuel pressure.
The fuel pressure for a 1998 Pontiac Sunfire should typically be between 41 to 47 psi (pounds per square inch) when the engine is running. It's important to ensure this pressure is maintained for optimal engine performance and efficiency. If you suspect fuel pressure issues, using a fuel pressure gauge can help diagnose any potential problems with the fuel system.
