these knives use a 'LINER' lock system, if you turn the knife over and look into the belly of the handle you'll see not only the gap where the closed blade would sit, but you should also see that one side of the 'liner' is slightly curled in behind the open blade. If you use you thumbnail or tip, you should be able to just move and hold the LINER LOCK off to the side and the blade will then be allowed to pivot back into the closed position.
