The rotring core allows you to use either a cartridge or a converter. For a cartridge you simply have to unscrew the pen into its two parts (nib-front section and the body section) and place the end of the cartridge into the back end of the nib-front section. If you have the converter, you simply need to insert the converter into the back end of the nib-front section, submerge the entire nib into a bottle of ink and then twist the converters twist mechanism in order to draw ink inside the resevoir.
