well what you would wanna do is go to a computer store or a cord store and buy a new one because sometimes you can't fix shortages so that is what you wanna do to fix a shortage in a cord because that is all i know to do so sorry that is all i know how to do to fix a shortage in a cord sorry :(
To fix a Sony headset receiver truly depends on the issue at hand. If its a connection issue, simply adjust the wireless settings for the headset and it should be able to connect. As far as internal issues, contacting Sony themselves may be able to help and if the device is still under warranty then a replacement could be sent out to replace the broken headset.

Tighten your headset using a wrench big enough, but don't over - tighten or else you'll break the headset.
The shortage is usually in the cables, near to the connectors where it bends a lot. Sometimes even in the connector. Replace the cable, that can help. No guarantees though..
