loosen the wheel nuts and jack up the car ( use axle stands if available ). remove the wheel, Use a 22mm socket to remove the lower bolt and a 22mm 12 point socket to remove the top bolt. push the old shock absorber off and push the new one in and replace the bolts.
ten minute job.
One way for a quick check is.... Push far down on each of the 4 corners and let go, it should come straight back up and slightly down again just once. If it bounces more then proper checks are needed. Usually an accurate test but not flawless.
remove drivers side front wheel, plastic panel behind spring/shock. real fiddly but can be done with minimal swearing ! if you have A/c then the air may be a tad bluer!
rear shock absorbers are a common fault
There are two bolts, one on the top, one on the bottom. Undo, remove, refit. They are not a serviceable item, if there is an issue with a damper you need to replace both sides to match or your cars handling will be very hairy. Should cost around £100 for parts.
mabye they "absorb shock!" 2nd Answer: In actual fact, shock absorbers do not absorb shock: the springs do that. The "shock absorbers" dampen rebound (Bouncing). In a bike, the spring is built right around the dampener part.
You have the cartilages in the joints, which act as mechanical shock absorbers. But then you have other functional shock absorbers. You have arches in the foot, which act as shock absorbers. Then when you jump down, you have that spring like movement of the legs. That act as a shock absorbers.
To change the rear shock absorbers on a Renault Laguna, start by safely lifting the vehicle and securing it on jack stands. Remove the rear wheels, then unbolt the lower and upper mounting points of the shock absorber. Replace the old shock with the new one, ensuring it is securely fastened, and reassemble everything by reversing the removal steps. Finally, check the suspension for any signs of misalignment or wear before lowering the vehicle back to the ground.
no, shock absorbers are in your knees and back. Some people have flat feet.
For a 2004 Ford Ranger : Shock absorbers , front and rear
Yes they are typically, 1992 BMW E36 for say has shock absorbers which are safety measures for accidents. They install behind bumpers to allow a 6" movement in the event you hit something (shock absorbers)
( 2 ) shock absorbers on the front suspension and ( 2 ) shock absorbers on the rear suspension ( and if it's the same as my 1995 Ford Explorer there is a short " shock absorber " that is sideways connected to the rear differential that I didn't bother having changed )
The 1995 Buick Skylark is equipped with rear shock absorbers. There will be struts on the front of the vehicle.
