It depends a great deal on what type of glue you are dealing with. Most glues are best removed by scraping them off with a razor blade - the same way you remove paint. Some glues can be softened by applying an appropriate solvent such as acetone or toluene which then makes the glue easier to remove. Some glues can be softened by CAREFUL application of heat such as from a blow dryer or heat gun. A few glues can be reduced to ash with a lower temperature flame and then wiped away. It really depends on the composition of the glue.
I have just done this after trying other methods suggested on the net. The simplest way was to warm the tape itself with a hair dryer then scrape the tape off with a knife or plastic card. Soak the residue on the glass in cooking oil on a piece of kitchen roll. It seemed to dissolve the remaining glue very quickly. then wash off with washup liquid. No harmful chemicals or expensive glue removers involved. Best not to waste your best olive oil on it though!
you could lay a piece of duck tape sticky side up and lay on top of that another piece of duck tape so the 2 sticky sides are facing eachother there fore there should be a double sided peice of duck tape if there is any stickiness left one the sides all you have to do it cut it off with a pair of scissors ( it doesnt matter whot kid of scissors)
Glass shops have precut mirrors that they can order. They usually run about $10.00. Scrape the old mirror off the plastic with a sharp chisel or razor knife. Scrape off any excess adhesive. You can glue the new mirror in with clear silicone but be sure to tape it on so the silicone has time to cure. Leave it overnight and pull the tape off.
Use a glue gun. The glue will peel off fairly easily when you are ready to remove it.
Acetone or lacquer thinner should do it.
It will appear to at first, but will loosen off as it dries out.
To effectively remove glue from glass jars, you can try using rubbing alcohol or acetone. Apply the substance to the glue, let it sit for a few minutes, then scrub the glue off with a sponge or cloth. Repeat as needed until the glue is completely removed.
Tape leaves residue because the adhesive on the tape bonds with the surface it was attached to. Over time, this adhesive can break down and leave behind a sticky residue when the tape is removed. Other factors such as heat and pressure can also contribute to residue being left behind.
Scrape it off with a chisel or sharp craft knife. Remove residue with Goof -Off.
