The only sure way is by a BAER test, which can be performed by certain vets. It is painless and is basically the same test used to determine if a baby is Deaf. If you want to do some "at-home" tests, they may not be 100% accurate, but can provide a pretty good idea. Wait for your puppy to be away from you and simply call him, use a whistle, or turn on the T.V. If he turns, he is probably not deaf. Another way to tell is wait until he is sleeping and loudly call his name. Be careful with shouting, clapping, or squeaky toys as the puppy can sense the vibrations, even if he is deaf. Also, make sure he doesn't catch your movement out of the corner of his eye, that can make him seem hearing. The important thing to remember is deaf dogs, with patience and training, can learn hand signals and live a very happy healthy life! Good luck!
A deaf dog may not be totally deaf, but merely hard of hearing. Even then it can feel sound vibrations if they are loud enough. In short a deaf dog would definitely know that it is barking.
I dont know But i know a dog that is deaf and part blind and has a lot of tumors and is 16 people years old
By taking your dog to the vet
If the dog was born deaf, it's not a good idea to breed it.
My dog is like that and he is not deaf.
Of course. Everyone knows that.
You should know because you take you dog to the vet every once in a while... If not, then not will you be a bad dog owner ( no offense ) but if you think so just take her/ him to the vet and see what they say.
Yes it can. Used SUROLAN drops ,after three days of treatment,my dog is now deaf.
Get a brainstem auditory evoked response (BAER) test done by your vet.
