When you're brake pads be calm worn, they will have a slight shimmy when you apply the brakes. When the brake pads are completely worn out they will make a grinding noise.
If it is a Toyota, they do not know how to fix the squeaking brakes either. Even after replacing all the pads and machining the rotors and rear drums
Long shoe on back side, short shoe on front side, what else do you need to know?
Give us more details starting with the year, make and model. Need to know what exactly was "done" to the front and rear brakes. Need to know if only one, two, three or all four wheels grab.
There are disc brakes front and back on the Cherokee. EDIT: Cherokees (XJ) have Drum Brakes in the back. Disc in the front i don't know if you were referring to the new Grand Cherokees .. Those have All Disc. Hope it helps. (i own a 88 Cherokee XJ)
You would push down on both the front brake and the back brake. You would want to put a little more pressure on the back brake and slowly add pressure to the front brake. If you slam on the front brakes there is a possibility that you will fly over the handle bars. I know from experience and it is not fun. I hope this helped.
You would need a screwdriver & a wretch to fix your bike front & back brakes. They are very easy to fix if you know what you are doing. So if you don't know what you are doing find someone that does or watch online videos.
There is a warning indicater on the brake pads to let you know they need replacing.
What do you need to know?
If you do not know how to do this then you should leave it to a mechanic. Replacing drum brakes is not an easy task anyways.
Alot of cars have whats called a squealer on the front brakes . . . it makes the brakes squeal when you use them. . . if it doesn't then a good indicator is grinding cause that's telling you that the brake pads have wore down to nothing.
1972 Super Beetles had 4 drum Brakes. I know, since I own one. Richard
Not sure what you are asking, but it has disc brakes in the front, and drums in the back. If you want to know what specific pads to buy, just go on any online site that sells auto parts, and it will ask you for your model and year, and show you what fits...
