How do you make a papier-mache mountain?

You can use balloons to make a paper mache owl. Blow up one balloon for the head and one for the body. Cover the balloons with strips of paper that have been dipped in flour and water, glue and water, or wallpaper paste and water. Leave a small space so that you can pop and remove the balloon. Once everything is covered, let it dry, pop the balloons and paint your creation to look like an owl.

We made big ones in VBS as kids. we used cut up sheets for the wise men's and angel's clothes, Styrofoam balls for their head, yarn for hair. we fashioned a cone type shape out of heavy cardboard or construction paper for the body, wire coat hangers attached for arms. you would cover the cone etc with the cloth soaked in the paper mache paste and drape it and shape it over the cone and the attached by tape wire hanger arms.. it worked really well and after it dried we spray painted them gold or silver what we decided to do with our own.. my mom put mine and my brothers under the Christmas tree for many years...would be a great project for kids ....Nice memory of how proud we were that mom displayed our art every year like that...
