In order to plug in your Dream Life game, you must have a TV with Audio and Video inputs or a TV with antenna input and a *modulator. For TVs with separate audio and video inputs, plug the yellow video plug into the "video" input (usually yellow) and the white audio plug into the white input on the TV. Set the TV to "line" or "aux" input and turn on the Dream Life game (small switch on the rear panel next to the output cable). Be certain the batteries in the remote (2 AAA cells) are fresh and installed with the correct polarity. Make certain the three AA Cells are fresh and installed wtih the correct polarity. If all was done correctly, you should see the "Dream Life" logo on your TV. Position the base module so that the dark window is facing toward the person operating the remote and the remote should be pointed at the base module.
*modulator- an electronic device that accepts separate audio and video signals and outputs (usually on channel 3 or 4) an RF signal.

You can do it with one RCA Y cable but it will only get you video if you want sound pick two up for 5 to 10 dollars. They need to be one male two female cables. Plug the two male ends into your tv. (video and i use the white audio cable which i believe is left audio, but it works for me.) Plug the right audio cable into the its normal place on the tv. Then take your video game system (works with basicaly every system) cables and plug it into one of the female ends of the video RCA Y cable. do the same with the audio but with the audio RCA Y cable. Then take camera video and audio cable and plug it into the corisponding plugs. With luck it should work. If not fiddle around switch the wires between the two female ends. Mine shows the game on my camera so if i wanted i could actually play off my camera. (NOTE: This only seems to work with video cameras not picture cameras that can record video and it does not work with all video cameras but is worth a shot to save 50 bucks)
Video, red and white are stereo
Things called Capture Cards are your answers. Things from a "Dazzle DVC100" to a "Happauge 1212" are little boxes that you take the output cords (audio and video) and plug them into the system, from there advanced systems (like the happuage) will have two output locations. One is the USB output which you plug into your computer, then with the software you would record. And two the output cords (either HDMI or Composite) would plug into your TV.
