at each end of the front of the radio are two holes (4 in total) these holes may have grub screws with Allen key heads, these are just blanking screws and need to be removed, if they are not there or after you have removed them you are left with four holes, in these holes are sping clips that need to be pushed back, you can do this be using a special tool (two "U" shaped pieces of metal) or by finding four objects that will fit into the holes to retract the clips. all four holes need to be worked on at the same time. once the clips have been retracted the radio should then pull out. be aware that you will need a radio code to get it working again. robb

You can remove the radio unit from your 1997 Nova with a flat head screwdriver and a Phillips head screwdriver. You will not need any other tools to complete the task.
Try fuse 17, bottom row 2nd from left.
To turn off a Vauxhall Astra radio, simply press the power button located on the unit, which is typically marked with a circle or 'PWR'. Alternatively, you can turn off the ignition, and the radio will automatically shut off. If the radio is integrated with the vehicle's infotainment system, you can also turn it off by selecting the 'Media' or 'Radio' option and then choosing 'Off' or 'Mute.'
If this is the original radio as fitted by vauxhall there should be no problem.I had the same on an astra, the previous owner lost the code card.I went to the local main dealer,(Pentagon Derby),they removed the radio and took the serial no. off the set. They then contact vauxhall on your behalf and within about a week, the code arrives.Best to take proof of ownership. This is routine,it happens a lot.
To unlock your Vauxhall Astra's radio from CDC Safe mode, first ensure the vehicle is on and the radio is powered. Then, enter the correct security code using the radio's preset buttons. Typically, you would press and hold the "1" button for the first digit, "2" for the second, and so on until all digits are entered. After entering the code, the radio should unlock and return to normal operation.
Initially, remove the battery earth lead for a minute, have your radio code ready to reset the radio. If this doesn't work you may need a garage to reset with a diagnostic computer,or confirm a faulty sensor.
There is a wiring loom behind the air bag this works the radio and horn it is about £6 takes about half an hour to change
