How do you remove the gear knob on a 2001 Mercedes A class?

Depending on the model, the gear shift knob can be removed by unscrewing it. If it does not unscrew, there will be a screw of some sort that will need to be removed and the gear knob will slide off. Look for a cover or patch on the knob itself and pry that off. Underneath will be the screw holding it on.

The Mercedes-Benz gear shift not is held in place by a retaining clip. The retaining clip is just below the knob. Hold the retaining clip together, on both sides. The shifting knob will come off.

There is a small Allen-key hole in the base of the knob...you need the Allen key

for the right size. You can probably force-rotate the knob so that the key-hole is

placed where you can undo it.

The 2004 Jaguar shift knob is held in place with a retaining clip at the bottom of the shift not. Hold the retaining clip in with two fingers and pull outward on the shift knob.
