Depending on the model, the gear shift knob can be removed by unscrewing it. If it does not unscrew, there will be a screw of some sort that will need to be removed and the gear knob will slide off. Look for a cover or patch on the knob itself and pry that off. Underneath will be the screw holding it on.

Just pull the gear that is under the light switch on the left hand side under the steering wheel that looks like this ((P)).

On the part of the gear knob facing forward there's a small hole with a grub screw in it, Turn the Allen key grub screw out and then twist the gear knob anti clockwise, then again I'm stoned who should believe me,good luck
this is of course dependant on whether it is a manual transmission or automatic....i recommend that if you dont know how to put it into gear, maybe you shouldnt be driving a mercedes....just a thought
