How do you remove the headrest of a 1999 Chevrolet Venture?

There are small holes in the plastic housing at the bottom of the headrest. I can't remenber if they are on the door side or the console side of the plastic but if you insert an awl or I used a heavy duty paper clip into the hole it releases the catch and you can pull the headrest up.

There is a special tool used for this, but you can make one. It is a thin shim type of tool you slide down the post to block off the retaining pin. You need 2 of these tools. Once you have the shim in place, pull up on the post and do the same to the other. It takes a few tries to get it, but keep trying.

Pull them all the way up to their limit. You will see a slide switch by one of the bars heading into the seat. Push it in and lift the rest at the same time. It should come right out.

At the top of the seats, where the headrests go into the seats, one of the bases has a button on the side. Just press and hold this button and slide the headrests out!
