I just did it on a 2005. Very easy. Using a screwdriver, carefully insert the blade between the cover and the black mirror part (narrow part closest to the car). Work the blade of the screwdriver in between the cover and the black base. Carefully twist the screw driver a little bit to push the cover away from the car. Move the screwdriver around a little to different places on the narrow part of the mirror. The mirror cover slides off - away from the car to come off.
The mirror cover can be removed by removing the mirror cover retaining bolts. You can access the retaining bolts by removing the inside door panel.
* Remove the mirror trim cover from the door panel * Remove the three mirror retaining nuts and detach the mirror from the car
just remove it and there you go it's out
* Remove the mirror trim cover from the door panel * You will see three retaining nuts check/tighten them
All you have to do is remove the black cover on the inside corner be careful as it is clipped and it is easy to break..The nuts holding the mirror are 8mm just remove them..Disconnect the wire connector and it pops right out...
I think you have to take off the inner door panel and remove from there...Rick D
To replace the side mirror glass on a 2006 Subaru Forester, start by carefully prying off the plastic cover at the bottom of the mirror using a flat tool. Once exposed, remove any clips or screws holding the glass in place. Gently detach the old glass from the backing plate, then align and press the new mirror glass into the backing. Finally, reattach the plastic cover and ensure everything is secure.
