There is a 10mm bolt on the left side of the cover, attached over intake manifold as you're looking at it from the front of the car. (It can also be removed with a Phillips head screwdriver) Remove that bolt and then simply lift up on the cover and pull back towards you. It is sort of "locked" in place at the airbox via a lip on the top of the section that connects to the aibox itself. Don't be afraid to pull alittle harder than you thought you'd need to, but it really shouldn't take much effort at all. It should come off very easily. When you put it back on, make sure the "lip" I mentioned, is installed first in the airbox, and just place the cover back where it was to begin with and reinstall the bolt. Good Luck.

To temporarily remove it - just unscrew the 4 screws that hold it on, near the corners. To permanently remove it - takes quite a bit of work, as the plastic skid plate is integral to the stability of the front-end bodywork; and i would therefore not recommend doing it.
