Turning the steering wheel left to right rapidly while turning the key in the ignition should free up the ignition switch. If this does not rectify the problem it could be with the lever lockout or the key itself.

∙ 9y agoYou will need to remove the ignition switch retaining ring. Pull the ignition switch barrel out. Remove the wiring harness from the back of the ignition switch. Reverse the process to install the new ignition switch.

∙ 12y agoif you have the key and wish only to change lock mech.because of failure.in bottom side of ign is small hole with key in and in either on or acc position push up into hole with small nail,drill ect you will feel spring loaded resistance .with that pushed in ,assembly will pull out.cheap like 15.00 bucks for new at Canadian tire .
