On my 1995 Maxima, I had to press the door switch approximately 12 times. I read on the internet to press it 15 times; and 7 times (per the recommendation here, and multiple times I tried) did not re-set it. Turn the key to the ON position (where al the lights on the dash light-up), then start pressing up to 15 times and the airbag light will re-set.
