Well, Making a heating pad like the electric ones would be tricky, but there is another way. First, sew a pocket of fabric, but leave a small opening. Then through the opening fill it with rice to desired fullness. Sew it up the rest of the way. Put it in the microwave to heat it. Easy, but it works. Make small ones for inside mittens, or big ones to ease soreness.
You could try the self stick type of gripper tape. Just peel of the backing and stick on the surface of the pillow. If the pillow cover has a zipper that can be used to remove the cover, you can reach inside the cover and hand sew the gripper on. If you don't feel comfortable attaching it yourself, you can take it to a nearby seamstress and pay them a small fee to do it for you.

a squeaky matress has metal springs and are probably squeeking because they are rusty or some are rubbing against eachother. In order to stop it from squeeking you would have to tear it apart and oil them which isn't worth because it will make a big mess and the you have to sew the matress back together. Even if you did manage to do this the same problem would come back. If it bothers you alot then you should go out and buy a new matress (easier said than done). I wouldn't recommend ripping apart any mattresses to oil the springs, either. Just get some new box springs.
