hold the menace so that both sets of forks are parallel (or side by side), facing upwards, with the curved face above them (the forked side). at this stage they will still be entwined, and you should have the left menace (LM) entwined under the right menace (RM) through the 2nd arm of LM under the 1st arm of RM. now slide the curved edge of LM to a third of its middle, through the middle prongs of RM. you can see where the metal has bee shaved off on both sides of LM and the ends of the prongs on RM slide through there! just reverse process to put them back together again. . no force is needed, just a little pressure. it worked for me anyway. cheers.
