To tighten the chain on a McCulloch Power Mac 442 chainsaw, first ensure the saw is turned off and unplugged. Locate the chain tensioning screw, usually found on the side of the guide bar. Use a flathead screwdriver to turn the tensioning screw clockwise to tighten the chain until it sits snugly against the bar, but can still be pulled slightly by hand. Finally, check the chain's tension and ensure it moves freely before replacing any covers or starting the saw.
To replace bar bolts on a McCulloch chainsaw, first ensure the saw is turned off and unplugged or the battery is removed for safety. Remove the clutch cover, loosen the bar and slide it back. Remove the old chain, install the new one and tighten it. Make sure you don't tighten it too much or you will wreck it. Too much tension on the chain will cause undue friction and the chain will heat up an could lose it's temper (soften).

Tighten the nuts to secure the guide bar in place, then adjust the chain tension according to the manufacturer's instructions. Finally, test the chainsaw to ensure the new chain is properly installed and functioning correctly.
