You need the software for whatever motor it is you have, as well as compatible means of linking to the electronic engine controls. Just to give you an idea, the software for the Cummins motors costs over $3000, and you can expect the others to be comparable. On top of that, since your truck is governed, and you're asking this question on here, it's pretty safe to assume that it's not your truck, and that you're probably a pretty green driver. You're best just to leave it be. Your truck is governed for a reason - it may be solely to try keeping fuel consumption down, or it may be in part because you're working for a company which hires drivers who don't enough experience - for that matter, you might not. Making such an alteration to your truck is a great way to get yourself fired, and have a very big black mark on your DAC report which will make no other trucking company want anything to do with you. And you will get caught, plain and simple.

Ever drive out west? If you do, you'll notice a lot less CB chatter than on the east coast. Which means you can't expect bear reports to be as timely. If you get a ticket driving at a speed faster than what your truck's governed at, that's going to raise some serious red flags with your company.

Then there's the matter of the Qualcomm - that thing can tell a dispatcher at any time exactly what your truck is doing, how fast it's going, etc. If you have a tendency to drive above the speed you're supposed to be driving, it'll put a flag on your dispatcher's board, and bring the matter to their attention. Then, the next time you're in a terminal, they'll check the electronic engine controls of that truck, and, presto - you're fired!

Maybe someone told you how to disable the portion of the Qualcomm which sends that information out, but still lets you send and receive messages. Problem with that it, when you do that, it shows your truck always at zero RPMS and moving at zero MPH. If that's what's always showing on your dispatcher's board, yet you're putting hundreds of miles a day on the road, there goes another red flag. And again, they check the engine controls, and you know where it goes from there.

Then, there's the simple fact of the matter that other drivers will rat you out. If you go flying by other company trucks at speeds faster than you're supposed to be going, or if owner/operators notice you're able to keep pace with them, they're going to call it in. And other drivers out there know how fast other companies run. If you're in a Swift truck, and running 70 MPH, they're going to know you're not supposed to be able to do that. Again, they'll call it in.

You're in a slow truck. Accept it, and move on. If it's so important to you, get your time in, and move on to a company which will let the trucks run - if there are any left which do by the time you're ready to work for one. With fuel prices going the way they are, slow trucks are much more in vogue now.

How to back a semi truck?

Stop the truck, shift into reverse, let off the clutch. Or, if you have an automatic, you just push the button for reverse, then take your foot off the brake. As for maneuvering a trailer, turn the wheel to the left to turn the trailer right and vice versa. If you get a diecast model of a semi truck and trailer and maneuver the trailer while you back it up, it could give you a basic understanding of how it works.

How do you disable a speed limiter on Volvo truck?

Like I told the guy who wanted to know this about Sterling trucks, tampering with the governor on a fleet truck will get you fired. OTOH, if you bought the truck and it's still got the governor on it, just take it to the Volvo dealer and have them turn the speed up all the way. I wouldn't remove the governor; the next buyer might want it. But if you turn it up to about 85mph, it will do the same thing as taking it off.
