Glass pens are a rather interesting type of pen that require extra care. They are dipped in ink like normal and the tip is surrounded by several spiral capillary channels to store enough ink for several sentences. Because of this, it will likely be necessary to slowly rotate the pen as the ink is used up.

Depending on the way the tip has been set, you may have to hold the pen at a flatter angle than you would with any old fountain pen. Over time, the glass tip will eventually wear down and super fine sandpaper will be needed to keep the tip functional. The tip should not be sanded into a sharp point, but rather a defined but rounded tip like that of pencil lead so that ink flow isn't blocked.

Glass pens are very fun to use, but have few practical uses apart from ink testing due to the considerable amount of effort and time required to use one proficiently. When used correctly, however, you can feel a subtle difference that simply doesn't exist with any other type of rare pen.
