Raise the rear wheel off the floor enough to rotate the engine in 5th gear..
1 remove the spark plugs
2 find TDC of the front cylinder ( compression stroke - both valves closed LOL)
3 depending on the tester you use setup is a little different. I have a cheap one from Harbor freight. It only tests at about 15lbs. ( 100 would be preferred )
Setup tester by regulating the input pressure to zero the leakage gauge.
4 screw adapter into the plug hole and connect the tester.
5 I use my ear and a mechanics stethoscope to listen for leakage. Air will be hissing and could be heard through the intake or the exhaust valves if there is a problem. Also if the valves are OK the rings may be weak and you may see bubbling in the oil tank..lastly a head gasket OR ALL IS GOOD
6 Acceptable leakdown is about 20% on my tester
My gage has an area indicated by green that is an acceptable amount of leakage.

Use an ohmeter to test tesistance where the plug wires connect to the coil-it should read 12,000. now for the the primaray side where the signal wires connect to the coil should be 2-3 ohms.
