Straight up to avoid burns and water leakage.
There are a few different types of ironing board on the market today. They include:Free Standing Y or T shaped ironing boards, which are the type most people are familiar with. The Y or T just represents the way in which the cross-beam is positioned on the legs and is ultimately meaningless.Over the door ironing boards which, as the name suggests, hook over a door and fold down so you can iron and fold up again to lay flat when you are done.Tabletop ironing boards which are mini sized ironing boards which have a smaller ironing surface and short folding legs. These are designed to fit on a table, bench, floor area or bed, basically anything with a flat stable surface. They are made for people who are lacking in space to store anything bigger.Folding mini ironing boards, which are the same as the above, but the top folds in half for an even smaller footprint for storage. These are small and light enough to fit in your luggage for travel.Sleeve ironing boards which are small and narrow and designed for ironing the creases out of sleeves.Wall mounted ironing boards, which fit neatly inside a small cupboard on the wall and fold down when you want to use them only to be folded back up again and neatly hidden away afterwards. There are also some alternative options like an ironing blanket which is basically just a heat proof mat which can be used to iron anything, anywhere.
The usual ironing board (still used today) is a long, narrow, padded board on folding legs that allowed the board to be raised or lowered. Once raised (usually to waist height), clothes can be laid out individually on the board and the creases remover from the clothes with a flat iron heated on the kitchen fire grate. A tea towel or other cloth could be placed over the clothes and ironed on top to prevent singing from the hot iron. If steam was needed the tea towel could be dampened a little. There were usually two flat irons. While one was being used and cooling down, the second one was heating up on the fire.Nowadays, with electrical steam irons, etc, ironing clothes is less of a chore.
Either straight out or down
Place the print face down on an ironing board, place the t-shirt over it, and iron through the t-shirt with a hot (not warm) iron. Do not iron the print directly - or you will melt it.
from my research in excellent shape around 140.00 400.00 also depends on who and how bad someone is willing and wanting to go for it, the shape is most def. a factor. hint: old dry-ed out boards will look much better and give life back to the board not only look better. (cooking oil just like you would do a cutting board. will not down value the piece if anything the price will increase.... yw. Bob. antique nut ( :
Easiest way is to look down it from the end. You should be able to see any bow. You can also look at the end to see how the grain runs. The crown should be towards the top of the rings in the board but not always. Sighting down the board is the quickest easiest way.
Approximately 2 inches
Cupping is when the board curves across the width of the board. Looking at the end of the board, it's a smile. When installing the boards, look at the end to see how the grain runs. You should be able to see the growth rings in the board. The shorter rings that were closer to the center of the tree should be on the top of the board. That way if the board cups, it will do in down. That way the board will not hold water, it will run off the sides of the board. You can't really prevent it if a given board is going to cup. Screwing the deck down will help, but screws can pull through the board if it wants to cup.
