It is important because intoday's world you need to reduce stress ..I definitely reduce it by quilting and have something to pass on to my kids and family. Finishing a quilt and giving it to your child is the best feeling a Mom can do. On top of all of that just having something in cloth that you created with your own ideas, fabric choices, and design. It makes you feel like the top artist in the world! I highly recommend quilting. In the old days it was done for necessity in our days it is done out of love and creation. Which will always make the art of quilting popular. Thanks, Jen Fisher

Is there a bias in the way the history of quilting is told?

Yes, there is often bias in the way the history of quilting is told, typically favoring narratives that highlight Western perspectives and overlook the contributions of marginalized groups, particularly women of color. Traditional quilting histories frequently celebrate mainstream techniques and styles, while the cultural significance and diverse practices of quilting in different communities, such as African American or Indigenous quilters, may be underrepresented or ignored. This selective storytelling can perpetuate a narrow view of quilting's heritage and significance, failing to acknowledge its rich, multifaceted history.
