They vary depending on the size an age of the mattresses. There are 2 sizes of king beds, standard king beds are 78 by 80 inches, California king beds are 72 by 84 inches (a little shorter but longer). Older king mattresses are lower, newer ones are higher and can add as much as 16 inches in width and 8 inches in length).

The best way to make sure you get the size you want is to measure the top of the bed width, then measure down the side for the width you want off the floor, (double this measurement. Measure for length similarly.
